Lest We Forget...

This just in from our WTF Bureau in Washington

25 Mar 05 -- "DEAR ABBY: As the senior population increases, the baby boomer manufacturers have gone hog wild. They have made it impossible for seniors to open anything that has any kind of seal. They have manufactured such closures that we seniors can no longer open bottles, jars, etc. without using a hammer, pliers or breaking our wrists.

"Once I was unable to open a bottle of medicine that I needed immediately, as the seal could not be broken. Can you please get the message out to these corporations to devise a way to make closures that children cannot open but we seniors can? -- BROKEN WRIST IN ALABAMA"

A hammer? A HAMMER? This old bat has more trouble than being old -- like being incredibly stupid. WTF?

Boo-Hoo-Hoo!

Instead of the happiness one has when one knows s/he has purchased the most valuable degree in the universe, Harvard students are instead depressed and unhappy with the school and its rules. They complain that there are few places to socialize, and that it's difficult to throw a party, not to mention the failure of the school's world-class professors.

"I've definitely had great professors," said Kathy Lee, a junior majoring in psychology, "but most of the time you have to chase them down and show initiative if you want to get to know them."

Now, one never should have to show initiative in one's life. But having said that, Kathy's desire to "get to know" her professors makes me wonder: Is she there for the education? Or is she looking for a dinner date?

I Hate the Effing Badgers

I really hate the Wisconsin Badgers. I can't think of a team less deserving of NCAA tourney play than the stinking rotten Wisconsin Badgers.

What's more, the Badgers as always have benefitted from luck and a singularly stupid schedule. Against whom did they play for their Elite Eight berth? A 14th seed. And how did they get a 6th seed in the first place? Was it because when they played Illinois, they didn't completely 100-percent choke? They still lost. Or maybe it was their near-perfect 11-5 record. I don't know. I hate the Badgers.

Thankfully, they will be blown away soon by #1 seed north Carolina, a team I'd never bet against. That's because they are powered to victory by fabulous Carolina Blue Soda!

Addendum to Addendum to "9 is Enough."

Eric may be getting better. He just asked me when Kahn's birthday is. Even though I don't know the answer to that burning question, I know now that there is hope for Eric's recovery.

Addendum to "9 is Enough."

I, Eric's supervisor (known also as The Woman) came home from work to find Eric in a stupor. Indeed, nine is enough.

My attempts to revive him were rebuffed. I kissed him. He was unresponsive. Had he fallen into a persistent vegetative state? I sat on his belly. Perhaps, I thought, if I can get him to poop, he'll be a little more alive. But rolling about on his belly didn't produce the desired effect, either. He's not pooped yet. God knows if he ever will now.

He stares at me now and I question whether he is actually responding to me, or if he is merely reacting to light behind me. I think we all know the answer to that. You should see him now, a mere shadow of what he once was. I'm not even sure he could be classified as a vertebrate anymore. As he sucks on his lips and stares at the ceiling, I can only hope he will pull through. But I think we all know the truth of that, too.

So I entreat you: Do not try this experiment at home. Or, if you must, try it with your own homemade Peeps. Disgusting.

9 Is Enough

Well folks, I had the day off today. not only that, but no supervision! I chose today to do some experimenting. My quest was to find out just how many Reeses(R) peanut butter cups one can eat before they become unsavory. I thought this mission would take the entire day as one cup was surely good and two was still good, and I have to admit that I have pushed the limits before and gotten to a total of 4 in a sitting with no ill effects.

I have completed my mission and I have found something interesting. When reaching the nineth cup, I was truly becoming full and yet the cup had tasted just as yummy as the first! My taste buds told me I could eat many more but the tummy was saying enough. So I declare that 9 is as many Reeses Peanut Butter Cups one can have at once.

Hershey's was nice enough to give a history of their peanut butter cup at the bottom of this page, enjoy!

Mmmmmm!

Thomas Mesereau: Best Defense Attorney... Ever?

When you have enough money to own the Beatles' catalog, you can get the best defense money can by. For example, here's the first question of the day, asked by Michael Jackson's attorney Thomas Mesereau, yesterday at 9.32 am:

"Ms. Palanker, did you know that [the accuser and his mom] sued J.C. Penney stores, and that [the mom] said that J.C. Penney security guards pulled her breasts out of her blouse, and squeezed her nipples 20 to 25 times?"

Case closed!

Worst Album covers!

...And they mean it! Have a gander at these precious peices of art. Suddenly that ELO cover with the space station that looks curiously like Simon(R) seems cool.

A Moment of Silence

It's a sad day, this March 24, 2005. First Molly Hatchet, and now this:

"Guitarist Rod Price, founding member of the blues boogie band Foghat, died Tuesday after falling down a stairway at his home, a family friend said. He was 57."

You look familiar...

a.k.a is a site which lists pseudonyms of famous authors. They have over 11,000 authors and their 'other' names listed. I don't know if they have ALL but geez, they have to be close. They also have a list of the top 10 authors in terms of pen names. Check them out because maybe you haven't read everything by your favorite author!

Why the Korean language is cool!

Here's an interesting page talking about how the Korean language works. Apparantly linguists find Hangul perhaps the easiest language in the world to learn! It is all phonetic and amazingly quick to pick up differing from Chinese written languages, which are derived from pictograms. Korea has virtually no illiteracy due to the ease of the language to learn and use.
