F.A.Q.

Here are some of the more commonly asked questions about us:
Why Fictionarium?
The answer is easy: there is so much being published, not to mention already printed that it's surely a daunting task to locate the kinds of writing I want to read without having to wade through things I don't. Think of this as a group of friends who like the same thing you do only they ALL don't ask you to help them move!
Why just fiction?
Non-fiction is already expertly organized by category no matter which library system you use, but fiction is usually listed by author name, so there's no chance you can find a book you want by just taking the book next to the one you liked.
At what frequency does Fictionarium get updated?
Fictionarium is updated at least twice a week or more...how many times you update it is up to you:)
How do I submit an author?
You can do this easily by clicking on the Add an Author links which are liberally spread throughout the site and especially on the indexes and individual author pages
What kinds of authors can I add?
You can add any kind of author you'd like as long as it is some kind of fiction! If there's not a genre for it you can suggest one, too!
What should I write about the author?
While we would like to stay away from critiquing authors, we think it would be good to include information about their styles and what other authors they are like.
Are they a fast read? Are they in-depth? Do they write in the first person? Things like these are always good. We think a good rule of thumb would be, 'what would I like to know about an author' is the best way to attack it. We have a page of tips as well!
What if the author fits in more than two genres?
If they can fit easily into other genres, list the first two big ones, later, you can come back and add others with the Update Author link.
How do I correct or add to an existing author?
You can do this simply by selecting the Update Author link on the left of the page and fill out the form and we will make the fix.
How do I add a book to an author?
Currently, this is handled by the Update Author form as well... but stay tuned!
How do I submit a new genre?
Submitting a new author is as simple as clicking on the Submit New Genre link on the Genre Index page
What should I write about the genre?
You should write a description that will help someone who has never heard of it understand what the genre is all about. Remember: the rest of us are just like you so go easy on us!
How do I submit a link?
You can submit a link through the Contact Us page and we will review it to see if it fits with what we are trying to do.
Will there ever be a book section?
I hope! We are working on this and other feature for down the line, so bear with us.
How do I get in touch with the Fictionarium crew?
You can get in touch with us through the form on the Contact Us page. Please be sure to leave your e-mail so we can get in touch with you.
Why do you rip on the Library of Congress System?
When I went back to school we had a huge library that I just wanted to browse and after weeks of fruitless effort and mindless wandering I gave up and resigned myself to the thought that yes, I am a simpleton and and I need a simpler (better) system.
